130426: Korean actors in China– Song Hye Kyo, Park Yoo Chun, Jang Geun Suk –worth revealed
[This is an excerpt from an article in Xinhuanet.com, a large news website run by the Xinhua News Agency — a state news agency of China and the largest news and information gathering and release center in the country.]
The cost effectiveness of Korean artistes is the biggest reason why China directors use them. Director Gao Xi Xi (高希希) said that China has now become the key market for Asian film and TV. Korean actors are mostly taking their own initiative to come for filming; they give good quality work and their price is reasonable. An insider source who is involved in the management of Korean celebrities told the reporter that when Korean artistes go to China, their price will be 30% to 40% higher than in Korea. Which means that, in general, a 2nd-tier artiste who gets 300,000 RMB per episode in Korea, can get about about 400,000 RMB when they go to China. And 1st-tier artistes doing TV dramas get about 500,000 RMB (T/N: approx 81,000 USD) per episode. Currently, those who can command this price are artistes like Song Hye Kyo, Park Yoo Chun and Jang Geun Suk. Once these artistes come to China for filming, they will definitely get a higher price compared to their value in Korea.

25Feb2013 [News] “Cutest Crown Prince” wants to work with Chen Kaige; my other 2 members are stronger for “I Am A Singer”
Simple and honest Park Yuchun
Changsha internet news Feb 24th
Hottest Korean drama actor Park Yuchun gave his first China show on Hunan TV Lantern Festival Show tonight. Because of popular dramas like ‘Rooftop Prince’, ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal’ and ‘Missing You’, Park Yuchun is definitely one of the most popular actors in Korea right now. And in China, he is also extremely popular and this trip to China attracted many fans to gather in Changsha (Hunan). Because it is his first show in China, plus he is facing China media, at the interview scene, this “cutest Crown Prince” seemed a little nervous, but his cute and slightly lost expression caused many female reporters to keep saying, “Adorable!”
Slightly nervous before China media
Because of his role as Crown Prince Lee Gak in 2012 drama ‘Rooftop Prince’, Park Yuchun has ultra-high popularity in China and has been called “the cutest crown prince in history” by China fans. Yesterday when he arrived at the airport, fans who had been waiting there for more than 8 hours were in fanatical pursuit.
Today he was slightly nervous at the interview by the China media before the live show, especially because he was facing a room full of combat-ready Chinese reporters for the first time. But for the later half of the interview, he became accustomed to the atmosphere and gradually relaxed, and smiled. The most interesting part is, at the end of the interview, when reporters requested for him to have a more relaxed pose for better photos, this “cutest crown prince” jokingly did a “very solemn and serious greeting” hand gesture. His cute and slightly lost expression caused many female reporters to keep saying, “Adorable!”
During the interview, he said that last night he rushed straight to the rehearsal from the airport, so he had no time to try Hunan’s delicacies. At the rehearsal, the “Happy Family” helped with the mood and reduced his tension.
Hopes to develop in China, wants to work with Chen Kaige
About future development plans in China, Park Yuchun said he wishes to, but at this moment he does not know about the chances of it happening. He has just finished his recent work in January and has no concrete work arrangements right now. “I myself have slowly matured and so I would like to try taking on the challenge of a variety of roles and acting.”
If possible, Park Yuchun said he would like to work with Chinese director Chen Kaige (陈凯歌). “I’ve watched his ‘Farewell My Concubine’ 《霸王别姬》, and recently his work was also released in Korea.” As for Chinese actresses, Park Yuchun said frankly that he knows/recognises Tang Wei and hopes there is a chance to work with her. “But there has to be the right work and the right role.” “It is good if we can work together but it is not about the actor/actress, it is about the work, the roles have to suit both persons.”
As the hottest male actor in Korean dramas, when asked if he watched ‘My Fair Princess’《还珠格格》and ‘Legend of Zhen Huan’《甄嬛传》or other Chinese dramas with high viewer ratings, he smiled and said some dramas have different names when translated in Korean, and so it may not match, but he revealed that he is currently watching a China drama, and when asked which drama, he laughed and said honestly that he has forgotten the name.
First show in China, nervous. Does not mind being imitated by Du Hai Tao.
Considering Park Yuchun’s busy schedule, Hunan TV for the first time sent a chartered plane to bring him to and fro. Fans from all over China also gathered at Changsha just to have one look at their idol. Regarding this show, Park Yuchun said frankly that he is nervous but also happy. “At the first rehearsal, I was rather nervous but the Happy Family hosts adjusted the atmosphere very well and I could relax. China MCs are great, although it was late, everyone was still very happy.” About Happily Family’s Du Haitao imitating Yuchun’s sleeping posture, besides getting a lot of attention from netizens, it also made a strong impression on Park Yuchun himself, “Yesterday, I met him for the first time but I didn’t feel like we were strangers at all. Because I saw the pictures in Korea, I felt like he is an old friend.”
2 roles, singer and actor
As an idol singer who successfully became an actor, Park Yuchun wishes to work hard at being a good singer and at the same time, work hard to become a good actor.
“Both have different attractions, so it is very hard to pick one. I became an actor after being a singer, but I feel that being an actor suits me. Just like a habit, being a singer is something very familiar to me; if I don’t sing, I will feel very uncomfortable.
“As a member of JYJ, as a singer, I would like to bring more songs to everyone; as an actor, I want to bring more works, the balance is always very hard. This year, I hope to strike a good balance between the two.”
Recently, Hunan TV bought the rights for the Korean show ‘I Am A Singer’ and was a hot topic. Park Yuchun knows this program well but does not have the courage to go on it: “If there is such a chance to appear on the program, I feel my other 2 team members are more suited for it, because I feel their strength in this is much greater than mine.”

Park Yuchun because of Korean hit dramas <Rooftop Prince>, <Missing You> etc , his popularity is exploding in China. On the night of the Lantern Festival Joy Party, the directing team arranged 4 special segments for Yuchun; they are melodrama, personal talent show <Magic Castle>, interview with interaction, gift exchange with audience. Park Yuchun specially prepared gifts from Korea; who is lucky to get Yuchun’s gifts, it will depend on everyone’s luck. 130223 Yuchun’s Exclusive Interview with Sohu Entertainment: First China Show
Carefully arranged by the team for the Lantern Festival Joy Party (Yuan Xiao Xi Le Hui), Park Yuchun accepted an interview with a reporter over webchat, revealing some secrets in advance for his first show in China and also shared personal career developments.
Regarding this first show in China, he confirmed that he is taking a chartered plane over. He said that due to his packed schedule, the time was very tight, but fortunately, everything was well taken care of. Although he met up with the media during the Beijing Media Day last month, he is still very much looking forward to meeting everyone through the Hunan TV Lantern Festival night show. He is participating in China’s 2nd largest festival, the Lantern Festival’s live night broadcast on Hunan TV, the details of which he cannot reveal much, but he emphasised that he will be bringing a song performance that will be like a bright spark to everyone. So he is hoping everyone will watch the program happily on that night.
Because it is his first show in China, he is rather nervous. And also, he has not participated in variety shows for a long time, so he is really looking forward to it. He knows that the 3 dramas, ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal’, ‘Rooftop Prince’ and ‘Missing You’, are very hot in China and he is very happy. He said he has a lot of things he wants to tell China viewers and many happy things to share, so he hopes he can do that on this Lantern Festival night.
Regarding the fact that ‘Missing You’ caused a great response on the internet and among fans, in this most heart-wrenching drama in history, when asked if he was showing his true self in his acting, he said sincerely, “Actually, I am also a sentimental person. The male lead has very delicate feelings, and for me, especially in the early morning or when I am alone, I will think about many things. At those times, I will also think about things related to the role or the performance of a song, so to me that is very helpful.” When asked about working with Yoon Eun Hye, he said their age gap is small, and the two of them matched each other well, so the filming of ‘Missing You’ went smoothly with no problems and ended well.
He debuted as a singer and his creative talents are well-recognised. As an actor, his dramas received unprecedented praise; with 4 dramas in 3 years, he swept the awards at the 3 TV stations in Korea and achieved a Grand Slam. In Korea, this honour and competence seems to belong only to Park Yuchun. Between being an actor and a singer, which does he like more? Or which will he focus more on developing in future? Park Yuchun said seriously, “Both have different attractions, so it is very hard to pick one. I became an actor after being a singer, but I feel that being an actor suits me. How do I put it? Just like a habit, being a singer is something very familiar to me; if I don’t sing, I will feel very uncomfortable. When I am filming a drama, I will still take some time out to sing. While I am working hard to be a good singer, I am also working hard to become a good actor.” Regarding fans being eager to know about his future plans in China, he gave a definite answer, ” I want to take on the challenge of a large-scale movie in China. I have a positive view towards China movies. So no matter when, if there is a chance, I hope to do a China movie or TV series.”
Because the team for this Lantern Festival Joy Party is the Happy Camp team, there was news on Tieba and Weibo (t/n Chinese social media platforms) that Park Yuchun will record a Happy Camp Special (t/n a very popular variety show in China). Yuchun said that most Chinese viewers know him through Korean dramas, so he would like everyone to see Park Yuchun through this Lantern Festival program. If through a variety show, he can close up the distance with the China audience, that would be great.
Regarding his gift to the audience, Park Yuchun said there will be a big surprise. Looks like we will definitely have to watch Hunan TV’s Lantern Festival Joy Party live broadcast on 24 Feb at 7.30pm to see his performance and surprise.

130213 Park Yuchun and Yoon Eun Hye expected to attend Hunan TV Lantern Festival, their very first show in China
2013 has just started; the smoke from the war among major TV stations’ Spring Festival night shows has not yet vanished but the finale of the Spring Festival holiday period on the fifteenth night of the Lunar New Year, the Lantern Festival night party’s “big war” has again quietly started. There is news from Hunan Satellite TV officials that the “Lantern Festival Joy Party” will not only have CCTV famous TV host Sa Bei Ning 撒贝宁 joining as a host, but will also welcome popular Korean drama <Missing You> male and female leads, Park Yuchun and Yoon Eun Hye, in their first China show!
<Missing You> is MBC’s new drama by Korean actress Yoon Eun Hye and male group JYJ member cum actor Park Yuchun, and is a love story about the bitter first love that traumatized both male and female leads. This drama ended perfectly on 17 Jan and not only received good ratings in Korea but was also in hot pursuit by local viewers. Because of the pronunciation of the characters’ names (T/N. Soo Yeon and Jung Woo), netizens nicknamed Park Yuchun and Yoon Eun Hye as “Cured (or Salted) Fish Couple” “腌鱼夫妇” (T/N. an affectionate nickname; Yeon-Woo in Chinese “妍”-“宇” sounds a bit like ‘cured fish’). They will appear on the fifteenth night live telecast of Hunan TV “Lantern Festival Joy Party” as their very first show in China. But the details of their appearance are still confidential.
Quite recently, Hunan TV presenter Du Hai Tao tried to imitate handsome and cute Park Yuchun’s sleeping position (T/N from a scene in the drama); it triggered a series of scathing comments from netizens and he was even laughed at: “If you lost weight, then you are Park Yuchun.”

130201 Jaejoong Featured in Easy Magazine: All Love For You
ALL LOVE FOR YOU
Not long into 2013, Kim Jaejoong brings his new solo, a daring new attempt, giving everyone a visual shock and impact. But this is only the beginning, the demon king has great things in store in the days to come!
Daring Interpretation – Jaejoong Effect
The first teaser of Kim Jaejoong’s solo album is one where he closed his eyes, emerging from darkness. The focal point of the photo is his eyes, where intricate decorative lace lashes have been attached. This effect instantly stunned everyone, and fans discovered after scouring the internet, that the way Jaejoong wore the eye-do surpassed even the product’s professional model, and fully expressed his personality and charm. In addition, Jaejoong once again demonstrated his ‘Kim Jaejoong’ effect, that this particular type of lace lash extensions sold out within hours after the teaser was released.
SOLO Album TOP Quality
Kim Jaejoong has penned the lyrics for all his songs in this album; among the songs, is one where he used his own life story as words for the lyrics, hence there is great expectation for this album. After the first single “One Kiss” has been released, even though it is only a preview version, its not hard to discover that Jaejoong’s singing prowess and charismatic voice works well with the rock genre. At the same time of receiving enthusiastic response, he also expressed his wishes that this album, from the preparation to recording to production, including the filming of the MV, will all be of top quality. Looks like the demon king plans to have an explosive return after staying silent for ages.
Making the MV with Heart
This solo album’s main track is also impressive, being something Kim Jaejoong has never attempted before, but feels like this has been the effect he had intended. Company representative states “We believe this will be one of the most sensational MVs in the Korean music industry this year. In order to achieve a better visual effect, Jaejoong undertook 60 hours of filming, and despite sustaining injuries, still kept his concentration.” This MV used snakes, an owl, along with other animals, to highlight some meanings the lyrics tried to convey, no matter if its Kim Jaejoong’s leap into the air or swirling sands, all made use of high speed camera, so the MV is considered a big production.
Birthday Performance with Huge Meaning
Other than releasing his own solo album, Kim Jaejoong also held a mini concert and fanmeeting on his birthday as a special stage event. This album is mainly rock, and what he intended to present at his concert was a great source of curiosity and anticipation for his fans. This mystery is revealed by himself, that his concert will be named “Your, My and Mine”, with the performance divided into three parts. [JJ said] “Held on my birthday, I feel that will make it more meaningful, and also as a way to express my thanks to fans.”
Heartthrob’s Love Life
As the perfect lover in the hearts of his throngs of female fans, what is Kim Jaejoong’s ideal type like? “I won’t be attracted by perfect women, but I care more about the first impression. I will also pay more attention to females with beautiful hands or feet, and like homely girls who has wifely qualities. But not as a housewife, I hope its someone who has ambition in her own career, but still can take care of the family, juggling well household chores as well. But I swear that, I don’t have a girlfriend at the moment!” Jaejoong is so busy with his career that he probably has no time for love.
